My research focuses on governance, state-society relations, and peace and conflict dynamics in Iraq. Over the past decade, I have investigated and analyzed social and political developments in the country, including in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.
I have conducted surveys and fieldwork across Iraq’s conflict-affected governorates, examining the perceptions of diverse demographics—including religious minorities, internally displaced persons, and young people—on governance, peace, post-conflict reconciliation, and reconstruction.
My research has revealed a strong correlation between citizen participation in local decision-making and trust in government institutions and between inclusive governance and social cohesion.
I have led and co-led projects funded by organizations such as the Robert Bosch Stiftung, Pax for Peace, US Agency for International Development, among others.
